Help me figure this out

Wicked is coming to Tempe. I am excited but I'm running into some major roadblocks.

The biggest and most major is explained by a conversation I had with my sister this morning over AIM:

Me: Wicked is coming to Tempe and I want to go and Tyler is only halfway supportive, so figuring out a way to go has been tricky

plus

Nora won't take a bottle

we tried yesterday and when I finally went upstairs, I saw that her face was beet red and she was screaming, she was so mad [she was about to start vomiting fire all over Tyler, she was that mad]

that was formula though, I think I'll try again with breast milk, and if that doesn't work, I'll have to give up

Sister: well I know how that goes all too well

Me: so, If we can't get her to take breast milk, then it doesn't matter if Tyler will watch the kids for a Saturday or not

Sister: yes, that doesn't matter

---

If I can't get her to take a bottle, the only other plan is extremely convoluted and involves going on our way back from Utah while Tyler and the kids hang out at Hottomily's house. That way, I could see a 7:30 show and would only miss one feeding, instead of 4 or so. This way, we'd probably have to spend the night, which Hottomily said, preliminarily, would be fine. I worry about Lillian, though. We all know how well she does not sleeping in her bed.

Here are the numbers:

The show is running July 1-26 in Tempe which is roughly 100 miles north from where I live. There is a 7:30 show every night and on weekends, there's a 2:00 matinee.

We are beginning our trek to Idaho via Utah on July 1st and returning July 7th or 8th, depending on how it goes.

We will be driving right past Tempe when we drive back (and when we drive up, but we'll be driving past at like 4 AM, which is no good to me.)

Can anyone figure this out for me? And, does anyone want to go with me? (I asked my husband and he said he's only interested 2.5 out of 10. I think that means he doesn't want to go.)

Um. I'm dying to see Wicked. The Rock has already seen it (the scum) and he doesn't remember a stinking thing about it (double scum) and totally doesn't deserve to own that cool Wicked Shirt that he wears everywhere in the wintertime. Grr.
I'll be at girl's camp July 9-13 so I'm not sure our dates will match up...

Lu: #1: I thought your calling was in Primary. #2: If I go on our way back, I'll go on the 7th or the 8th. If I go on a Saturday, I'll go later in the month, like the 18th. So, it is entirely possible that we could go together.

Dan has a completely unfounded adversity to Wicked as well. It is playing in SF and I have been dying to go, but I also have no one to go with. Hope you can work it out! It is an amazing show!

Ohmygosh ohmygosh!! I love Wicked! I can't believe it's coming here! My dad took my sister to New York to see it (I went to Hearst Castle with my mom; I don't see it as equal either) I will totally go with you!! I will be super annoying and sing all the songs, I promise!
And Nora? SUCK IT UP! :)

This is going to be the most unpopular comment. Ummm.... sometimes there's a season for all things. *in a super quiet voice* Maybe you will have to wait until next time.

OR... you can keep working with Nora. Try, try again. It's obviously not impossible to get a nursing baby to take a bottle. Just a lot of work and frustration.

I didn't get to see it thanks to Mia. So my season is coming next time it's here.

Maybe I'm missing some condition that would prevent this from being an option, but why not drag everyone up there with you and have Tyler and the kids hang out outside (well, maybe not literally OUTSIDE, but somewhere nearby) while you go see the show? Then you can nurse Nora right before the show, and right after, if necessary. And then have a happy drive back home.

Also, have you tried skipping the bottle and going straight to sippy cup? Neither of my kids ever took a bottle, not even once. But they did figure out the soft-tipped Nubi sippy cup well enough.

OK, reading this post again, I see you kind of already had my idea. Except why spend the night and complicate things? Just drive home in the middle of the night. Trust me, you won't be missing anything on that I-10 scenic drive.
