Apple Season

Apple season is officially open in See Canyon!!! Usually, it opens during the last week in July, but it was late this year on account of all the rain. It also happened to coincide with Tyler's birthday. To celebrate both, we bought 15 pounds of Gravensteins and I made an apple crisp instead of a cake.

Happy birthday Tyler! The Gravensteins (not our favorite apple, by the way. We adore the Burgundy which traditionally ripens right around our birthdays, but they don't know when it'll be up this year) are very tart. Normally, when we leave the apple farm, we eat about two apples just in the car on the way to the freeway. I could only handle one this time; I bit into it and my salivary glands started hurting. That's how tart we're talking. Tyler ate two just because the first one "killed his tastebuds." Even after the crisp and the seven or so apples each we've eaten, we still have seven pounds left.

Maybe next year she'll be more excited about the apples.

This is the watch I got Tyler for his birthday. The picture's blurry, but you get the idea. Posted by Picasa
